The 2009 Welsh Open professional ranking snooker tournament took place between 16 and 22 February 2009 in the Newport Centre in Newport, Wales.
The defending champion was Mark Selby, but he was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Anthony Hamilton.
This was the first ranking final refereed by Colin Humphries.[1] Ali Carter won his first ranking tournament with beating Joe Swail 9–5, having come back from 2–5 down.[2][3]
